The 1st Fudan International Workshop on Atmospheric Science Frontier (FIWAS) is to be held at Shanghai, China on 18-20 January, 2018. This workshop is organized by the Institute of Atmospheric Sciences, Fudan University. The theme of the workshop is extreme events of weather, climate and air pollution. The objectives are to review recent advances in the variability and predictability of weather, climate and air pollution extremes, their changes under global warming background, as well as relevant detection and modeling studies. Related talks are sincerely welcomed. The working language is English.

5. Submission of abstract
The workshop will consist of oral and poster presentations. Authors are invited to submit one-page abstracts with a single–column format, single spaced 12-pt Arial font in A4 paper. The abstracts are expected to be submitted via e-mail to Prof. Zhiwei Wu (zhiweiwu@fudan.edu.cn). Abstracts submission deadline is December 1, 2017.

7. Weather
Shanghai’s winter hits hardest in January. The average temperature is 5°C / 41°F. It rarely snows. Rainy, windy or cloudy weather lasts two thirds of this month.
8. Currency
The currency in Shanghai is the Chinese Yuan (RMB). Foreign currencies and traveler’s checks can be exchanged into RMB at banks. Exchange rates are subject to market fluctuations, but as of date, 1 USD = 6.67 Yuan approximately.
